I’ve lived in Canada for over 30 years, building what many would consider a successful and stable career as a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services and a Clinical Nursing Instructor at Bow Valley College.

On paper, everything looked secure.

But behind the long hours and demanding schedules, there was a quiet reality I couldn’t ignore. Despite working two jobs, I still didn’t have the financial freedom or the time freedom I truly desired. I was constantly busy, often stretched, and missing the kind of quality time with my family that I valued most.

Then life gave me a moment I couldn’t overlook.

A car accident forced me to stay home for nearly a year. What initially felt like a setback became a turning point. It gave me the space to pause, reflect, and ask myself two life-changing questions: Where did I go wrong? and Do I want the next 25 years of my life to look the same—or do I want to change my story?

That’s when I realized something profound.

Despite years of hard work, I lacked financial literacy—something no one had ever taught me.

In 2015, I was introduced to the financial services industry through Greatway Financial, and I saw an opportunity not just to earn, but to understand. I wanted to know why I felt financially behind—and more importantly, how to change it.

That decision changed my life.

Within three years, I gained the knowledge, confidence, and clarity I needed to transition fully into this new path. More importantly, I was able to refocus on what truly mattered—my family, my time, and my future.

Another defining moment came when my husband was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in his early 50s. For years, he had managed most of our financial decisions. Suddenly, I had to step into that role with confidence. That experience deepened my commitment to truly understanding finances—not just for myself, but so I could help others avoid the same uncertainty.

Today, I’m grateful to have achieved many of my dreams, including seeing my sons grow into independent individuals.

But my purpose has grown beyond personal success.

Now, it’s about helping others.
